Unlike some other reviewers I found the food acceptable. However, having paid for the 1500 calorie hamper I was astonished to find that the calorific value of the food supplied was less than 900 calories per day. Adding the recommended extras of milk, fruit and vegetables only brought the daily average total calories to less than 1100 per day. Just to bring my daily intake up to the advertised total therefore, I have add another 400 calories of food. This involves extra expense, and a fair bit of calorie counting - something which their advertising says you don't have to do.
Not having to calorie count was the main attraction for me for me so I feel completely let down on that one.
Even the weekly sample menu in their booklet only adds up to 1000 calories per day, including extras. This could be dangerous - experts recommend that nobody should consume less than 1200 calories a day because it can be damaging to health.
If I have to calorie count I might as well design my own program using more tasty prepared meals from the supermarket - there is a great choice available, I give this offering only one star for seriously misleading advertising.
In summary, I would not recommend Diet Chef to a friend.

Went for the special offer, for a week's food from diet chef, for half price.
When I received the box,I was struck at how unappetising the food looked. All longlife sachets. The sachets contained tiny portions of very processed tasting food. Quite inedible.
I've learnt the lesson the hard way. You can get much nicer and cheaper diet food from M and S or any other high quality supermarket, with exactly the same calories or less, or cook your own. The only convenience is that it's delivered to your door. But you can do that anyway, with most supermarkets.Don't bother -disgusting.
In summary, I would not recommend Diet Chef to a friend.
