Body And Soul is a health and wellbeing website with myriad topics to explore. Whether it’s general health, fitness, weight loss, nutrition, sex and relationships, or beauty, there’s plenty to read and practice.
Whilst the site contains a lot of freely accessible information, it’s short on tools to help you track and monitor your weight, with relatively little (except recipes and articles) when it comes to helping you to control what you eat.
BodyAndSoul.com is well balanced in terms of the variety of useful health information it provides. It takes a holistic approach to staying healthy, helping you to take care of your fitness, nutrition and confidence.
It’s somewhat more geared towards women than men, with sections on beauty and celebrities which tend to focus on female-dominant issues. This isn’t a criticism, per se, but something to be aware of.
There aren’t any exercise videos available, but the site does provide detailed explanations of its workouts, with photos. Meanwhile, the nutrition section talks you through a range of popular diets and recipes, including smoothies and healthy takeaway options.
You can search through recipes for particular ingredients, including filters for gluten free, low fat, heart friendly, lactose free and more. This is really useful because it means you can tailor your search to what you have in the fridge, and any particular dietary needs you have.
There aren’t really any community features which allow you to speak with other members, but then the site doesn’t really require you to sign up to access its information. It would actually benefit from a more in depth membership area so that members could revisit their favorite articles and recipes, sharing their comments and ideas.
The articles are well written and often contain engaging photos and ideas. However, they can’t quite recover from the lack of online tools, which would have helped to put those articles into practice to monitor the results.
An exercise and food diary would really be helpful, particularly if you could search through the site’s recipes and add them to your schedules. The same could be done for exercises, allowing you to deduct calories burned from calories consumed, to find out where you could improve.
In short, Body And Soul Weight Loss will make a useful resource for finding recipes and reading health articles. However, if you’re looking for food deliveries or calorie counting tools, you won’t find them here.
If you’re more interested in exercise, this site is also a bit limited, and there’s really no community support if you feel like you’d need that to help spur you along.
